Jennifer Welsh is professor in international relations at the University of Oxford and a fellow of Somerville College. She is currently also co-director of the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law and Armed Conflict. Welsh is the author of a number of books and articles on international relations, including, most recently, At Home in the World: Canada's Global Vision for the 21st Century and The United Nations Security Council and War.
Welsh was the Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Massey College in 2005, and a Trudeau Fellow from 2006 to 2009. She also consults to a number of organizations, including the Government of Canada, and sits on the board of trustees for the Walter and Duncan Gordon Foundation. Welsh was educated at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Oxford, where she studied as a Rhodes Scholar. She is a frequent commentator in the media on international affairs and Canadian foreign policy.
