Marc Lortie is a career diplomat and currently serves as Canada’s ambassador to France and Monaco. He served in Tunisia, Washington, D.C., and Paris before being named Canadian ambassador to Chile, from 1993-97. Lortie also served as assistant deputy minister, Americas, and ambassador of Canada to Spain from 2004-07.
Lortie received a bachelor of arts at the Séminaire de Québec and a specialized bachelor of arts in political science (international relations) from Université Laval. In 1997, he was named a fellow at the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University.
