Richard Dicerni

Richard Dicerni—Deputy Minister, Industry Canada

Richard Dicerni was appointed deputy minister of Industry Canada in May 2006. Prior to this, he worked as a partner at Mercer Delta Canada and then held several positions at Ontario Power Generation, lastly as acting president and CEO. Dicerni is a former president and CEO of the Canadian Newspaper Association. He also held several senior positions at the Government of Ontario, serving as deputy minister of Education and Training, deputy minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, and deputy minister of Environment and Energy.

As well as holding various executive positions within the federal public service, Dicerni was deputy secretary for the Federal-Provincial Relations Office; senior assistant deputy minister of Health and Welfare Canada; assistant deputy minister, Corporate Policy; and assistant deputy minister, Citizenship. He holds a bachelor of arts from the Université de Montréal, and a master of public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
