Ronald J. Daniels

Ronald J. Daniels became 14th president of The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, in March 2009. He had been appointed provost and professor of law at the University of Pennsylvania in 2005. Prior to that time, Daniels had served as dean of the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law for a decade. He is also past president of the Council of Canadian Law Deans and Council of Ontario Law Deans.

Daniels’ current research is focused on the relationship between law and international development. He is active in public policy formation and has led several public task forces dealing with corporate governance, securities regulation, electricity market structure, and public accounting reform.
